2022 Vintage! Partida Creus s VN Bianco is a complex and refreshing field blend from the Spanish mavericks who are renowned for working with some of the lesser-known and indigenous grape varieties. This white blend has a punchy cidery nose from the small amount of skin contact that s added along with some honeysuckle and green apple on the palate. On the finish, it has some citrus and a nice dose of minerality. Personally one of favourite ever PC releases.
Partida Creus is the project from two Italians (Massimo and Antonella) who now produce just south of Barcelona in the Tarragona region. The thought process of the PC project was to work with historical and forgotten local varietals that in many cases were not recognised by the D.O. of the area: Penedès. The pair worked tirelessly for years buying up tiny plots of abandoned vineyards scattered around the area where mostly unknown varietals such as Garrut, Vinyater, Samsó and Queixal de Llop grew. The project has constantly produced banger after banger, all of which have a very distinctive house style – raw, natural and pungent reds, and funky, fresh, expressive whites.
