A stunning dry white wine from the volcanic island of Samos (Aegean Sea, Greece) made by Patrick Bouju for Sous le Végétal, based on the rare Greek grape varietal Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, part of the Muscat grape family. Fresh, saline and mineral driven, with an aromatic petrol and asphalt nose and a beautifully balanced roundness on the palate. Made without the addition of winemaking products or sulphites. Octave is made entirely from small-grain muscat from Samos grown in places called Pagondas, Karvounis and Platanos — eight plots from four terroirs, okto meaning “eight” in Greek. The Octave pairs well with dishes with some sweetness and spice, like a massaman curry.
Sous Le Vegetal is a natural wine project by wine superstars Patrick Bouju & Jason Ligas. The aim is to highlight rare grape varietals & different expressions of the grape Muscat Blanc á Petits Grains amongst a host of others, with different slopes and terroir on the Greek island of Samos, located close to Turkey.
